Who We Are

Miss Julie's is a trauma-informed organization dismantling sex trafficking in our community. We connect resources that create pathways out of exploitation, educate the community on trauma- informed practices, and provide vocational training that breaks the cycle of revictimization.

This is a movement rooted in Rochester, NY, with aspirations to create a ripple effect, empowering local organizations to take action in their own communities. We walk with survivors—supporting their path forward to a beautiful future through evidence-based, survivor-centered programs.

  • State-Issued Licenses: Cosmetology licenses in New York State are granted after background checks, offering a stable career path free from potential re-traumatization during the application process.  

  • Pre-Enrollment Advocacy: MJ staff can assist students with any legal hurdles surrounding past records, ensuring a smooth licensing process.

  • Accessible Training: We welcome students as young as 16.5 with a high school diploma or GED, reaching a vulnerable population often targeted by human trafficking.

  • Diverse Career Options: Cosmetology offers a well-paying trade with diverse opportunities beyond salon work, including product sales, development, or even becoming an instructor.
